Are the words and phrases you use negative or positive?
- I look good today V.S I look fat
- I am ready to make money VS Ugh another day of work
- My spouse won’t leave me alone VS They care about my wellbeing
- My clothes are so old and ugly VS I am blessed to be warm today
You get the point.
Do you notice how the different terminology changes the perspective and can have a MAJOR change on the person’s mindset?
One of the phrases makes the person feel victimized by their situation and have a negative attitude toward the day. The other phrases express gratitude and optimism.
Which person do you want to be?
Paying attention and making slight changes to your self-talk can and will change your whole day around. Your brain produces like thoughts each and every day, it prefers patterns and it prefers to use as little energy as possible.
That being said, it will take some effort to recognize and change your habitual thoughts, but once you do it for a couple of days, it will begin to consider “like” thoughts the new thoughts. From there you will start to notice small joys in each day and become empowered to make positive changes to your life.
It all starts with your thoughts and your mind.
